“If you keep looking steadily into God’s perfect law—the law that sets you free—and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.”
James 1:25
As I stood outside the dressing room waiting for my grand-daughter to try on school clothes, I glimpsed my image in the mirror at the end of the hallway.
How slim I looked!
It’s true, I’ve lost a few pounds recently. But in that mirror, I appeared positively svelte. Then I looked again . . . and began to suspect the dread-ful presence of “reflection deception.”
Was this amazing body-slimming piece of glass purposefully placed simply to increase sales? (After all, if I’d been the one trying on clothes, and had seen myself in an outfit that made me look twenty pounds lighter, I’d probably buy it.)
Thankfully, the Word of God doesn’t distort my image.
The Bible “tells it like it is” so I can become my best self, the self God created me to be. All I have to do is keep looking, steadily looking, day by day.
Look into the Word today with open eyes and attentive heart.
