Ingredients
2 x 340g packets golden buttercake
2 quantities Buttercream icing
Blue food colouring
4 strawberry sour straps lollies
480g packet party mix lollies
Buttercream icing
125g butter, softened
1 1/2 cups icing sugar mixture
1 tablespoon milk
Method
Step 1
Preheat oven to 180°C/160°C fan-forced. Grease an 8 cup-capacity metal pudding steamer. Prepare packet cakes following packet directions. Pour into prepared steamer. Bake for 1 hour or until a skewer inserted in centre comes out clean. Stand for 10 minutes. Turn out onto a wire rack to cool.
Step 2
Make icing: Using an electric mixer, beat butter in a bowl until pale. Gradually add icing sugar mixture and milk, beating to combine. Tint icing with food colouring.
Step 3
Using a serrated knife, level top of cake. Make a 5cm-deep cut around top of cake, entertaining little chef party leaving a 1.5cm border. Using a spoon, scoop cake out to form a well. Spread cake, including well, with icing. Using picture above as a guide, decorate cake with sour strap, trimming to fit.
Step 4
Fill cake well with lollies. Decorate with a wooden spoon and lollies. Serve.
