Bottled spaghetti

When stores first started selling tinned spaghetti, Gran thought, ‘I could do that’. So she did. It’s simple, but very effective - as kids, we were never allowed as much as we wanted, because the adults ate more than their fair share!
INGREDIENTS
4.5kg tomatoes
400g onions
140g sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoons pepper
400g dry spaghetti
METHOD
Skin tomatoes. Slice into pan with finely chopped onions. Add sugar, salt and pepper. Simmer 15-20 minutes. Cook spaghetti in boiling salted water. Drain and add to tomatoes. Boil together for 10 minutes and place in sterilised jars, leaving a 1 inch space.
