This TV family first aired on ABC in September 1958, and was one of the first TV family sitcoms to feature the mother as the center of the show.

Donna Reeds Bisque Tortoni

½ cup dry, crushed macaroons

½ cup light cream

¾ cup sugar

Pinch of salt

½ pint heavy cream

1 tsp vanilla

Few drops of almond extract

Mix macaroons with light cream, sugar, salt, stir and let stand 1 hour. Beat heavy cream until thick; add macaroon mixture, vanilla and almond extract. Divide into 4 molds, freeze for 3 hours, unmold and sprinkle with macaroon crumbs.
