Pudding frosting
1 (4 ounce) package chocolate pudding
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
1 tablespoon hot water
1.Mix together the pudding, milk and butter in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly and boil for a minute. Chill for 15 minutes.
2.Mix in the vanilla and sugar. Beat in the hot water and mix until well combined.

Fluffy pudding frosting
1 cup half-and-half cream or 1 cup milk
1 (4 ounce) package jell-o instant chocolate pudding mix
1/3 cup powdered sugar
1 (8 ounce) container cool whip frozen whipped topping, thawed
Pour the half and half in a medium-size bowl.
Add in the dry pudding mix and powdered sugar (icing sugar); beat with a wire whisk for 2 minutes
Gently stir in the Cool Whip topping.
Spread on cake at once.
