smores in a jar.jpg

crust:

1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs

1/2 stick butter

Pinch of salt

Directions for crust:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Next, melt butter and mix in graham cracker crumbs and salt. Mix until well moistened. Spray 4 mason jars with non-stick cooking spray and press graham crust mixture into the jars.

Tip: Begin by adding a tablespoon to each jar and repeating until the mixture is gone. Try using the back of a spoon or a clean screwdriver to press the crumbs down firmly. Don't worry if they don't look perfect!

Ingredients for cake:

1 1/8 cups all purpose flour

1/4 cup dark cocoa powder

1 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup brown sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup milk

1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon heavy cream

1/2 cup butter, melted

2 tablespoons sour cream

Ingredients for topping:

1 bag large marshmallows

Directions:

In a large bowl, whisk egg and sugar until smooth. Mix in milk, cream, butter, and vanilla extract until combined. Next, stir in sour sour cream. Then, sift dry ingredients together and then add to wet mixture. Mix this until the batter is smooth.

Using a 1/4 cup measure, add batter to mason jars one scoop at a time. Only fill each jar up about half way. Again – don’t worry if it is perfect. Next, place jars in a baking dish and add 1 1/2 cups of water to the bottom. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the cake is set.

Remove from the oven and press large marshmallows down on top, the jars will be very hot so be careful not to burn yourself! There are no set number of marshmallows to use, however I recommend about 3-5 in each jar. Heat the broiler on your oven and watching carefully, brown marshmallows for about 1-2 minutes or until golden brown.
