They don’t just have to be made as an appetizer; you can enjoy these anytime. This is modified from a recipe from King’s Hawaiian.

Here’s what you’ll need to make them:

12 pack of King’s Hawaiian Original rolls

1 lb. shaved deli ham

Swiss cheese (thinly sliced) – I used about 10 slices

1 1/2 sticks of butter (read my post on what I would change this to)

3 tablespoons Dijon mustard

1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

1 onion (ring cut and then cut rings in halves or quarters)

Start out by preheating your oven to 350 degrees, then take your rolls and cut all 12 right down the middle. Don't devide them - you will do that later.

Melt the butter in a pan and mix in mustard, Worcestershire sauce and onions in a pan and start to simmer. Here’s my personal opinion on the butter. I think the next time I make the sliders I’m going to reduce the butter quite a bit. You really only need enough to soften the onions and I think just brushing a bit of the butter onto the bread would have been fine.

Let the onion start to soften and continue to simmer until they start to carmelize.

In a greased 2 quart dish place the bottom of the rolls.

Then pour about 1/3 of the pan mixture over the rolls and then layer with the ham slices. Again, here’s where I would have brushed the rolls with some butter and strained my onions before putting them on the buns. Next time. If you like lots of butter, then by all means, pour it on.

Next, place the Swiss cheese slices over the ham.

Put the top bun layer over the cheese.

Spread the remaining onion mixture on top of the buns and cover the pan with aluminum foil. Place in a 350 degree oven for 15-20 minutes.

Separate the rolls before serving and then enjoy! Bet you can’t eat just one!
