Add a little extra to your braai meat by adding a dash of delicious mushrooms and sauce. This only takes minutes to make.
INGREDIENTS
Whole button mushrooms
Worcestershire sauce, a dash
Cream, 200ml
Butter, 3 tablespoons
Origanum
Black pepper
Garlic, 1 clove crushed (1 teaspoon)
Salt
Cornflour, 1 tablespoon
METHOD
Chop 2/3 of the mushrooms in slices. Chop the remaining 1/3 in chunks.
In a sauce pan, melt your butter, add the chunky mushrooms, origanum, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper and let it simmer for 7 minutes, stirring more than frequently until mushrooms are done and sauce has reduced and thickened. Remove only the mushrooms from the pan.
In the same pan, add more butter, sliced mushrooms, salt, pepper and origanum. Cook until done, then add the cream and heat through. In a cup, mix one tablespoon cornflour with a dash of water to make a paste, add it to the cream gradually until you get the right consistency.
On your already braai'd steak, pour some sauce, then add the chunky mushrooms on top and serve.
