Scone Surprise

When you want a baked treat for breakfast or brunch, our scone recipe is just the best. The smell is enough to make anyone feel welcome in your home.
Ingredients:
500ml Cake flour
125ml Butter or margarine
2ml Salt
20ml Baking powder
1 Teaspoon vinegar (to take away the taste of baking powder)
1 Tablespoon Chilli Flakes
2 Tablespoons dried onion flakes to sprinkle
Water
1 Egg
Method:
Preheat oven to 220°C.
1. Lightly grease a muffin tray if necessary.
2. Sift the flour, salt and baking powder in a large bowl.
3. Using your fingertips, rub butter into flour until mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
4. Make a well in the centre.
5. Beat the egg in a cup (250ml) then fill up with water. Add the vinegar, chilli flakes and pour in the flour.
6. Carefully mix this until all the flour is covered. Do not over mix.
7. In the prepared muffin tray, spoon mixture into the muffin cups.
8. Sprinkle the onions flakes on top.
Place in oven for 12 minutes
