Recipe: T-bone steaks with sweet chilli sauce

Serves 8
Preparation time: 15 min
Cooking time: 30 min
BASTING SAUCE
60 ml (¼ c) olive oil
30 ml (2 T) Worcester sauce
30 ml (2 T) chutney
30 ml (2 T) tomato sauce
salt and freshly ground black pepper
5 ml (1 t) braai spice
MEAT
8 thin T-bone steaks (each about 100 g, similar to minute steaks)
BASTING SAUCE
Mix the ingredients and season if necessary. MEAT Cook the T-bone steaks over very hot coals or high heat for about 2 minutes on each side. Brush the steaks with the basting sauce while they are cooking. Season with extra salt if necessary. Serve with stywe pap (see tip) and sweet chilli sauce.
TIP
Quick stywe pap: Bring 250 ml (1 c) water and a pinch of salt to the boil. Slowly stir in 500 ml (2 c) mealie meal and cook the pap over medium heat for 20 minutes or until done. Stir occasionally.
SWEET CHILLI SAUCE
Heat 40 ml oil and fry 2 finely chopped onions, 2 crushed cloves garlic and 30 ml (2 T) curry powder (optional) for a few minutes. Stir in 2 diced green peppers, 1 red chilli and 3 chopped tomatoes. Add 30 ml (2 T) Worcester sauce and 40 ml chutney and season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring the mixture to the boil, reduce the heat and simmer for a few minutes or until the sauce is thick and fragrant.
