CUP OF COMFORT: My Hero!

“Mighty hero, the LORD is with you!”
Judges 6:12
• He was a fun little fellow, full of charm and energy as he whirled each of us on the dance floor at the annual Father-Daughter Dance. He was always ready with a compliment that made you feel beautiful. He attracted attention by his very presence, and he was my hero. He was my father, and oh, how proud I was of him! He’s still a fun fellow with loads of charm, but his energy wanes. He still attracts attention, but now from the nurses who greet us as I slowly walk with him into the dialysis center. His posture is stooped, but with his hand on my shoulder, we both feel ten feet tall. He’s always ready with a joke, despite his pain as a kidney patient, and he makes everyone around him feel better. His faith sustains him and me, and oh, how proud I am of him. He’s still my hero. No matter our circumstances, through the grace of God we can still be somebody’s hero.
