“When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child does.
But when I grew up I put away childish things.”
1 Corinthians 13:11
• I remember when my son became too big to carry down the stairs. I had always loved the tender moments in the morning when he woke up, all warm and tousled, and wrapped his little legs around my waist for a ride down to our kitchen. But the day came when I couldn’t lift him anymore. Years of scrambled eggs and toast had done their work. He was strong enough to take the steps alone, and there I stood, with piggybacks to spare. How bittersweet, the good job his dad and I had done. All our care equipped our boy to take those first steps toward maturity, toward the day when he’d no longer lean on us as a child. How amazing it will be to relate to him as an adult someday! God nurtures us to enter into a mature relationship with Him.
