“. . . Love has no fear because perfect love expels all fear. . . .”
1 John 4:18
• After receiving the news that my mammogram was abnormal, I scheduled an appointment for a biopsy. I sat in the crowded waiting room and searched the sea of anxious faces. We were all so different, yet we battled the same enemy: fear. I realized I had a choice. I could continue to meditate on my own worries or focus on the needs of others. Turning to the woman next to me, I asked about her situation. I listened as she poured out her story, then shared with her the security I found in knowing God was with me. When the nurse called her name, I squeezed her hand. “I’ll be praying,” I reassured her. “God is with you.” She smiled warmly and nodded her head in agreement. Feeling a quiet, inner peace, I returned her smile. Sharing God’s love allays our own fears.
