Makes about 15, depending on size
Dough 375 ml (210 g) Snowflake self-raising flour 2 ml salt 45 ml cold butter or margarine 1 extra-large egg 60 ml milk
Filling 60 ml fruit chutney 80 ml (35 g) grated Cheddar cheese 2 ml ground paprika salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste 5 ml chopped fresh mixed herbs
Dough: Sift flour and salt together. Rub in butter with fingertips until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Whisk egg and milk together. Add to dry ingredients, cut in with a knife and knead lightly to a soft dough. Wrap in plastic wrap and let rest in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes. Filling: Mix all ingredients together. Roll out dough onto a lightly floured surface, into a rectangular shape, to a thickness of about 3 mm. Spoon filling onto dough and roll up like a swiss roll (from the short side). Cut into 1 cm thick slices and place onto greased baking trays. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 10 - 12 minutes. Turn out onto a wire rack to cool.
