“When God comforts us, it is so that we, in turn, can be an encouragement to you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer.”
2 Corinthians 1:6
• A movie came out a few years ago with the title Pay It Forward. The idea was that the world would be a better place if we took our blessings as a call to bless someone else, who, in turn, would bless someone else. It would set up a chain reaction of giving that would eventually circle the globe. When I think of the apostle Paul’s words above, I do imagine a chain reaction: God comforts us; therefore, we can com- fort others. Whether physical limitations, financial pressures, or other tough challenges, our troubles cling to us each day. But think: Who helps the best when you’re hurting? Is it the person who has all the answers? Or is it the friend who’s experienced a similar affliction, the one who is ready to empathize and gently encourage? Can you be that kind of comforter today? Out of our troubles can flow a chain reaction of comfort.
