CUP OF COMFORT: Loving Friend

• On a hot summer morning, I was feeling tired and frustrated. My small children had clung to me all morning, and I longed for some time to myself. Then the phone rang . . . “Hey, girlfriend!” my friend said. “Just wanted to know if you and the kids would like to come over and take a dip in my pool this afternoon.” I accepted. But while packing swimsuits, my enthusiasm waned as I considered chasing my toddlers around the pool. When I arrived at my friend’s house, though, she escorted me into the kitchen and pulled out a chair. She had prepared a special lunch on fine china. “Now you just sit here and enjoy lunch while my daughter and I watch the kids.” I sat at the table, eyes filling with tears. How thoughtful of God to shower me with love through a precious friend! We are always on His mind.
