“When they heard Paul speak of the resurrection of a person who had been dead, some laughed, but others said, ‘We want to hear more about this later.’”
Acts 17:32
• Two thousand years ago, a Jewish carpenter started proclaiming special status with God. But He never wrote a book, never started a political party, never conquered any territory. He hung around with lower-class types and even included women in His circle of friends, until He was executed for treason. So . . . should we be surprised if many people think our Jesus-worship is a little strange? Some still laugh. It’s our faith in His Resurrection that makes all the difference. If it really happened, then Jesus is the only one worthy of worship. But, of course, some people consider that kind of talk “weird.” That’s what happened to Paul when he proclaimed Christ’s Resurrection to some skeptical Greeks. It wasn’t easy, but I’d like to have the kind of courage he had—to proclaim an unlikely object of worship even in hostile territory. Courageously spread the message: He is risen!
