“Jesus made a whip from some ropes and chased them all out of the Temple. He drove out the sheep and oxen, scattered the money changers’ coins over the floor, and turned over their tables.”
John 2:15
• Think through your history with Christ so far. When was discipline or judgment clearly a part of your relationship? What resulted from that difficult time? What things did you learn? It’s wonderful to think of Jesus gazing into our eyes with love or offering an encouraging word or walking and talking with us in Heaven. But the verse above reminds me that God hates sin, and Jesus used a whip to run off crooks in the Temple who cheated or took advantage of others. The point is, Jesus is not a “safe” Savior. He comes with love, but sometimes we require a tough love. For our own good, judgment may be in order. Can we be thankful that He won’t let us go until we are conformed to His image? Thank God! Thank Christ for His “severe mercy” in your life.
