“There must be a spiritual renewal of your thoughts and attitudes.”
Ephesians 4:23
• What’s on your mind today? What kept running through your thoughts last night just before you fell asleep? And what problem or opportunity faces you right now? How you answer these three simple questions can help you know just how to pray today. As I read this passage from Ephesians, I agreed with the apostle Paul that the culture around me needs transformation, just as it did in first-century Ephesus. Everywhere I turn for news and entertainment, I find all kinds of impurity and violence (see verses 17–19). Like me, the Christians in Ephesus must have wondered how in the world they could live like Christ when a corrupt lifestyle dominated their society. And how can I escape the pull of my own impure desires? Thankfully, Paul gives me an answer I can live with: I need new thinking, new attitudes. I need the mind of Christ. Let the power of the Holy Spirit transform your attitudes, starting this very moment. —
