“Those who wait on the Lord will find new strength.
They will fly high on wings like eagles.”
Isaiah 40:31
• “Okay, Mom, I know what you’re doing—you’re like that mother eagle taking those warm feathers out of the nest you’ve been teaching us about!” Jeff, in his mid-teens, needed to make some decisions. In the previous night’s family devotions, I contrasted the values of “Eagle Christians” versus the lifestyles of vultures. Eagles prepare their nests and catch food to help their young grow strong and healthy. As the youngsters grow, Mama Eagle prepares the eaglets for life outside the nest. For years after their dad died, my three sons and I walked alone. I waited upon the Lord each day, and the Bible became a wonderful resource for child-rearing. Through the years, I saw my rambunctious little boys transform into fine young men. Now they’re raising little Christian eaglets of their own. Let us wait on Him for everything we need. —
