“When you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own
by giving you the Holy Spirit.”
Ephesians 1:13
• As I type at my keyboard, the phone in the kitchen rings. I run past my noticeably naked toddler, down the stairs, and catch it just in time. Returning to my desk, I notice my self-inking rubber stamp is missing. Creeping up to his bedroom door without a sound, I try to peek in. Unfortunately, the doorknob gives me away with a squeaky jeeerrrrer. I hear the familiar click-slash sound, and then a soft thud, and then little feet scampering across the linoleum. Finally, I notice the covers on my son’s bed wiggling and giggling. I walk in and gently lift the covers. In black, like poorly organized tattoos, repeatedly, I read my name, address, and phone number on pink skin. With these inklings of information, if he had wondered away from our house, anyone who saw him would know right where he belonged, at home with me! We’re forever marked as God’s own possession.
