Die vlam se glans

skadu magtig die hand

wat donker flets

teen bleekwit

van die onmag-muur

wat sugtend protesteer -

deur pyn en ongemak

verduur

flou skyn die lig

wat mag verleen,

vlerke gee

aan fladderende

verbeeldingsvlug

in vlam se brand

oorkoepelend skaar -

‘n flikkerdans

wat onmag paar

druppend die was

van magsbeheb,

losgewoel uit denke onvanpas

met leë beloftes

wat eens

(dalk) waar was -

die kers se vlam

flikker flou

weerkaats hande wat

staccato dans

rukkerig geflans

deur na-nag se blou.
