“I plead with you to give your bodies to God.
Let them be a living and holy sacrifice— the kind he will accept.”
Romans 12:1
• I find it interesting that, when we think of a “spiritual act of worship,” we are to think of offering our . . . bodies. What could this possibly mean? Jane walks into the mall and passes by the bookstore, the dress shop, and the movie theater. Now the Cookie King looms ahead. She is trying to lose weight, but she also loves chocolate chip delicacies. As she gets closer, she sacrifices her taste buds, her stomach, her body. She keeps walking. It’s one thing to think spiritual thoughts, pray spiritual prayers. It’s quite another matter to do spiritual sacrifice. So often it involves our bodies. But what, specifically, will it mean for you in the days ahead? Commitment to the Lord is not entirely painless.
