“He calls His own sheep by name and leads them.”
John 10:3
• After the service, I saw her coming toward me. She was so friendly, even though she’d suffered significant brain damage. I frantically tried to remember her name so I could greet her, but it wouldn’t come. I thought, “It’s okay, I’m sure she doesn’t remember who I am.” As I opened my mouth to say hello, she said, “Hi, Merry.” She not only knew my face but also my name. I was humbled. This was one of God’s precious children, whom He dearly loved. Her brain may have been diminished but not her heart. My brain was fne but it seemed I had a heart of stone. That day God allowed me to see the importance of a name. It is the very essence of a person. That’s why Jesus knows her name and now, by His grace, so do I. I will never forget it. Her name is Peggy. To know her name is to demonstrate her value. —
