EASTER BASKET CAKE

1 pkg. Duncan Hines moist deluxe cake mix (any flavor) 1 (16 oz.) Duncan Hines chocolate layer cake frosting 1 bottle green food coloring 1/2 tsp. water 1 c. flaked coconut assorted Easter candies
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans. Prepare, bake and cool cake per package directions for original recipe. Place 1 cake layer on serving plate. Spread with frosting; top with 2nd cake layer and frost. Frost outer layers. Make basket weave pattern with fork in frosting. Combine several drops of food coloring with water in small bowl. Add coconut; toss with fork until evenly tinted. Place tinted coconut on top of basket weave pattern for grass. Arrange candies on top. Make handle with two 12-inch chenille stems twisted together. Wrap handle with pastel ribbon; insert in cake. Tie bow on side of handle.
Serves 12 to 16 people.
