“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”
1 Corinthians 2:9
• How do you explain to a blind man the beautiful sunset shades of red and orange, or the rainbow’s delicate bows of color? How do you describe to a deaf man the delightful sound of a baby’s first bubbly coo or belly laugh? All comparisons, all explanations, all descriptions are inadequate; all parallels fall far short of the reality we are trying to portray. So how can we, so earthbound, expect to understand Heaven? All descriptions fall far short of the glorious reality that awaits us across death’s threshold. I do sometimes wonder what Heaven will be like, though, and at times I even worry about it being so different from my present reality. Yet, just as the blind know that sight is some- thing wonderful, and the deaf are sure that hearing is some- thing precious, we can be sure that Heaven will be just out of this world! Heaven is different—but better.
