COFFEE CAKE FILLING AND TOPPING 1/2 cup brown sugar 3 tsp cinnamon 3 tb flour 3 tb melted butter 3/4 cup chopped nuts Blend these ingredients together well before mixing coffee cake batter. COFFEE CAKE BATTER 1 1/2 cups flour 3 tsp baking powder 1/8 tsp salt 2/3 cup sugar 1/4 cup shortening 1 egg 1/2 cup milk 1. Shift dry ingredients together and cut in shortening 2. Beat egg well and add milk 3. Combine liquid with dry ingredients 4. Spread half the batter in a greased flat pan 5. Sprinkle with half of the filling 6. Add the other half of batter and sprinkle remaining filling on top 7. Bake at 375 for 25 mins 8. Cut in squares
