CUP OF COMFORT: There’s Still Time for Her

“He does not want anyone to perish,

so he is giving more time for everyone to repent.”

1 Peter 3:9

• Someone once said of an acquaintance, “She’s no failure; she’s not dead yet.” In other words, while there is still breath, there is always opportunity for a radical turnaround in life’s direction. Some people view their lives as a whole, single experience that can be summed up now and then as either a failure or a success. But others view life as a multitude of different, single experiences. The only need is to enter into each experience as it comes, and to live it to the fullest for God’s glory. What kind of person are you? Would Jesus recommend the one-thing-at-a-time view? In this view, of course, no one could ever be labeled “a failure” while still alive. Repentance, renewed faith, astounding success—they’re all possible. Starting now. Remember that, while there is still life, every life is redeemable.
