“Believe in the light while there is still time;
then you will become children of the light.”
John 12:36
• I have retinitis pigmentosa, a degenerative disease of the retina. As my vision slips into darkness, I am becoming fascinated with light. All the bulbs in my house must be at least 75 watts, the better for me to read. My kitchen appliances, even the floor, is white. The floor, though, must be mopped daily to wash away the stains my family tracks on it. You see, white reflects the light but catches the dirt. Each night before falling asleep, I recite the Scriptures I have committed to memory. I follow Ephesians 5:8 with today’s verse. My Bible references the Ephesians verse back to John 12:36. Rightly so, as both verses talk about the light of Jesus. It is this light that fascinates me the most. Thankfully, I do not have to see in order to luxuriate in its brightness. May you bring light to a darkening world today.
