125g cream cheese, at room temperature 1/2 cup shredded cheddar 4 jalapeno chillies 8 small slices salami, halved 1 sheet frozen quality puff pastry, cut into 16 squares 1 egg, lightly beaten

Preheat oven to 220C or 200C fan-force. Line a baking tray with baking paper. Combine cream cheese and cheddar in a medium bowl. Cut chillies into quarters and remove all or most of the seeds (depending on taste and heat of chillies). Fill chilli quarters with cheese mixture.

Place a half slice of salami and a filled chilli quarter onto each pastry square. Fold edges over to enclose salami and chilli filling, pinching edges to seal. Shape into a rough bowl and place, seam-side down, on prepared tray, slightly touching (for pull apart effect). Brush with egg. Bake for 20 minutes or until pastry is puffed and golden
