“ ‘Who am I to appear before Pharaoh?’ Moses asked God.
‘How can you expect me to lead the Israelites out of Egypt?’ ”
Exodus 3:11
• Moses was shy. But is that so bad? A few years ago, I was looking for a church to attend. I had heard about certain “dynamic” preachers in the area and thought I might listen to a sermon or two. No matter how many well-crafted and inspiring messages I heard, though, I kept going back to the other preachers. They were the ones whose typically less-than-polished presentations still gave me the impression that they had traveled down paths of life that I, too, had journeyed. I sensed that they still had a bit of shyness left inside. It’s not the dynamic person who speaks to my heart. It is the person in touch with the rhythms of her own heart, in touch with an inner life that makes contact with my own. How delightful! Introvert or extrovert, affirm your approach to life.
