Ready to Respond?

“He refuted all the Jews with powerful arguments in public debate. Using the Scriptures, he explained to them, ‘The Messiah you are looking for is Jesus.’ ”

Acts 18:28

• “Show me the facts,” says my friend, a lady who seems to need absolute proof before she will believe. Together, we search the Scriptures, much like Apollos did with Priscilla and Aquila almost 2,000 years ago. I’m thankful for the example of this young man who passionately preached what he knew. I’m even more thankful for Paul’s discerning friends who took Apollos aside and explained the way of God so clearly. Because he faithfully proclaimed what he knew (John’s baptism), God led him to mentors who could complete his biblical education. Then, armed with all of the facts, Apollos took on all scholarly doubters, whether Jew or Greek. Can you identify with Apollos? Meet regularly with informed believers who can graciously field all questions and find answers with you in the Word. Then you, too, can confidently proclaim that Jesus is the Messiah. Be ready to respond to sincere questions about the Christ.
