FRENCH STRAWBERRY PIE 1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese 3 tbsp. half & half 1 (9 inch) pastry shell, baked 1 qt. strawberries, divided 1 c. sugar 2 tbsp. cornstarch 2 drops lemon juice 1/2 pt. whipped cream, sweetened (for garnish)

Blend cream cheese and half & half until soft. Spread this mixture over cooled pastry shell. Wash and hull strawberries and select half of the best ones, slicing the larger ones in half and set aside. Add sugar to remaining strawberries and let stand until juicy. Mash sugared strawberries thoroughly and mix with cornstarch. Add lemon juice. Cook until mixture is thick and transparent, stirring constantly. Cool and pour half over cream cheese, arrange remaining berries on this and pour remaining filling over berrie; chill overnight. Serve topped with whipped cream. Yield 6 servings. (The longer this is refrigerated, the better.)
