Kinston Academy is a small private school registered to teach up to grade 7 and they follow the CAPS curriculum from the department of education. Currently they have Gr R – Grade 3 and are moving one grade up every year until they get to Grade 7. Learners benefit from smaller groups, because they receive individual attention and encouragement to develop to their full potential.

Kinston Academy believes that a school's ultimate purpose should be to equip children to understand the truth about life, the world, and their place in it.

Kinston Academy also believes that in order to understand these truths, the deeper questions regarding the meaning and purpose of life cannot be ignored. The curriculum of public education alone cannot guide students through these deeper questions of life, and it cannot use the Word of God as it's standard of truth. Christian Schools, on the other hand, seek to equip students to recognize the Lordship of Christ in all subject areas of learning, and to respond in obedience to His call to be transforming influences in society.

Secondly, not only does a school shape a child's mind, but one also cannot ignore the impact that a school has on the heart of a child. All schools have a vision for the kind of person they want their students to become. In other words, schools do not only teach information, but they also seek to educate the emotions, and influence the living actions of a child's life. The power a school has to impress a worldview on a youngster is great.

Academics top priority at Kinston Academy Kinston placing strong focus on early development in education for your little one. July 28, 2015 - Article in Comaro Chronicle

IT is said that the best years to nurture an achiever is at an early age, and this is exactly what Kinston Academy has been accomplishing since the year 2000.

Kinston is a Christian English medium academy that offers learners the best foundation phase from Grade R to Grade Two and will soon be extending their reach to Grade Three pupils.

“Academics are our strongest point and this shows, because last year our class average was 93 per cent and our pass rate 100 per cent,” said Kinston Academy owner Marina van Wyk.

”We started as a pre-primary school in the year 2000 and, since then, we’ve built the academy into a Christian English medium private primary school.”

The foundation phase places a strong focus on two to three-year-olds who are started on a formal and proper syllabus that strengthens their handwriting skills and then builds from there onwards.

The aim of this process is to ensure that, by the time the child reaches Grade One, their top results can show that they were 100 per cent prepared for ”big school”.

“We do not allow a child to go below an average of 65 per cent and Kinston Academy’s class average is above 70 per cent,” continued van Wyk. We aspire for 85 to 90 per cent, because we are driven and focused on academics.”

Each classroom has at least 30 learners and in 2016 the school will be including the French language in the curriculum.

Kinston Academy has no cut off period for registrations and is open for registrations throughout the year.

Future plans are to extend classes to accommodate learners from Grade R all the way to Grade Seven.

The school does not offer sports, although it does have a gym period.

Kinston Academy is located at 87 Voster Avenue, in Glenanda.
