Geographically Incompatible!

• My husband and I have lived in three different states over the years: Florida, Illinois, and Colorado. Each has its unique benefits and attractions, along with its own specific drawbacks. I love the tropics, but my husband Gary says he “hates to sweat.” He loves the mountains and deserts. We’ve joked that we’re “geographically incompatible.” It seems to be human nature to seek the just-right place to settle down. But where is “just right”—that magical place of satisfaction we’re looking for? It’s always around the next corner, over the next hill, tied to the next promotion, waiting to be revealed during the next vacation, sure to blossom out of the next relationship. It’s “out there,” and we’re headed toward it, surely! Yet Jesus said, “The kingdom of God is within you.” “Just right” isn’t out there somewhere; it is deep within. Seek to live from the inside out.
