OLD ENGLISH SPAM 1 can (1 lb.) Spam (or ham) 1/4 to 1/2 c. oil 2 c. (2 inches long) celery sticks 2 c. (2 inches long) carrot sticks 8 wedges (2 inches thick) cabbage wedges 2 c. chicken broth 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. white pepper

Wash Spam, slice into 8 slices. Heat oil to medium heat, brown Spam slices, drain on paper towel. Prepare chicken broth. Prepare celery, carrots, cabbage. In a 9 x 9 x 2 or 9 x 13 x 2 inch baking dish, place the raw cabbage wedges on bottom, between each wedge insert a slice of browned Spam. Evenly distribute the celery and carrots over the top. Season with salt and white pepper. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for an hour or until cabbage is just tender, carrots will be firm and crunchy. Boneless chicken strips may be used as well as turkey. Turkey, ham or burgers may be too prepared salsbury steaks style.
