“It is right that I should feel as I do about all of you,
for you have a very special place in my heart.”
Philippians 1:7
• My friend Kim stopped by my office one Monday morning and asked whether I’d like to go out for lunch. Talking it over, we agreed to meet at a local restaurant. “Kim, you will appreciate this story,” I said as I took a seat in the booth with her. While we began digging into icy shrimp cocktail, I told her what had happened over the weekend with my teenage son. Kim laughed and shared a few stories of her own. That simple meal brightened my day, and the afternoon went much smoother, our lunch being a refreshing break from an overly busy morning. I am once again reminded how pleasant it is to sit with a friend and share family stories. The more we share with any other person, the deeper our bonds of relationship will grow. Then some very special heart-places form within us both. Our friendships act as anchors—not only for storms but in life’s calm waters too.
