“You must love the Lord your God with all your heart,
all your soul, and all your mind.”
Matthew 22:37
• I was putting up my Nativity set when one of the figures fell to the floor. I knelt sadly beside the broken pieces; it was the baby Jesus who lay broken. What meaning does my manger have if my Savior isn’t there? What meaning does my existence have without His presence at the center of it? He is so much more than a figure in a Nativity set. He dwells here within me, right now, to lead me, to be a real and personal friend. My grandsons, Jordan and Jared, held the pieces together in their fingers, and I glued. They seemed intent on rescuing the glass figure and putting it back into the manger. Will these boys grow in eagerness over the years to keep the Savior at the center of their lives? In the deepest part of our being—there He is!
