“Forgive the person who offends you.
Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.”
Colossians 3:13
• I mindlessly assembled the ingredients for my cup of tea, anticipating its sweet and soothing taste. Instead of forming a blissful smile, my face contorted in a sour frown. Shaking the glass sugar container again, I noticed a large, crystallized lump blocking the opening. As I reached for a knife to break up the crystals, the lump reminded me of something else. I saw a lump of hurt and angry feelings buried deep within my own heart. Sure, I had reasons for my feelings, but as they gathered and clung together, they created a hardheartedness within me that I could no longer ignore. Slowly sipping my unsweetened tea, I pondered how a lump of unconfessed sin could hinder the refreshing nourishment of God’s love in and through me. For the first time, I truly wanted freedom from this pain. I asked Him, if need be, to break my crystallized heart. Broken by Love, you will be stronger than before.
