“Whatever is good and perfect comes to us from
God above, who created all heaven’s lights.”
James 1:17
• The letters sent by my daughter’s second- and third-grade classes are priceless to me. They are thank-you notes for the little items I’ve sent for their classroom store (the money being used for field trips). My daughter gives the children some back- ground about me, and then they send such wonderful notes: “My teacher is lucky to have such a cool Mom.” “I wish you were my mom.” “How old are you?” “I love you.” “Bless your heart.” “You are an incredible Mom.” “We all appreciate all the materials you sent us.” “You are really awesome.” “I bet my teacher loves you from here to the sky.” How beautiful it is when hearts can express love so freely. These children have never met me, and many of them come from unloving homes. Yet they are filled with thanks. Can we express such free-flowing thanks for all the little treasures God gives us each day? “Thank you” is the best prayer of all.
