“This same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from
his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:19
• Many years have passed since the brisk spring morning when I stood beside my father and watched him plant seeds in well- cultivated soil. When the seeds were covered with rich earth, my father then pounded stakes into the ground, marking head and foot of each row. Next, he ran cotton string from stake to stake, leaving about two to three inches of string dangling from the stake. “Why don’t you cut the string at the top?” I asked. “The ends are left for the birds to build their nests,” my father replied. On cue from nature, those strings Dad had supplied became frayed from the beaks of little nest-builders. This memory brings to mind our Heavenly Father’s supplies for us—the things we need to build our lives in Him: the Holy Spirit, the Scriptures, the fellowship of believers, the privilege of prayer. What glorious riches held out to us! Use God’s supplies today for yourself—and for others in need.
