“[David] sang this song to the LORD on the day the LORD rescued him
from all his enemies and from Saul. I love you, LORD; you are my strength.”
Psalm 18:1
• I admit it. I was playing a video game when my teenagers came home from school. My daughter, Carey, came in and laughed when she saw me. She sat down, and we talked a little, but mostly we focused on the game. I wasn’t very good at it, which Carey found quite amusing. I caught her humor and soon began laughing at myself. Eventually Carey rose to leave but paused at the door. She turned and said quickly, “Mom, I sure do love you.” Then she darted from the room. I sat, astonished into silence, as a warm feeling overwhelmed my heart. How good it was to hear those words of love! I pray regularly, asking for God’s help. And sometimes I even remember to thank and praise Him. But how long has it been since I’ve blurted unashamedly, “God, I sure do love you”? Even the Lord loves to hear of our love.
