“ ‘Abba, Father,’ [ Jesus ] said, ‘everything is possible for you. . . .’ ”
Mark 14:36
• “Dad, come quick! Sam is frozen with fear, and we can’t get him down!” We’d spent the morning convincing our five-year-old that no matter how high he climbed, he couldn’t fall off a sand dune. When he later begged to hike with his siblings, we let him go. But now he was at the top, we were at the bottom—and our baby stared down, petrified. My husband rushed up the dunes. I knew running vertically in sand had to make his muscles scream, but his face showed only determination to reach his scared little boy. Soon they came down together, my son clinging to Daddy’s hand. Later, it made me think: What would it be like to cling to Abba’s hand today? First, though, I will climb up in His lap for a moment of peace and rest. Let God be Abba—Daddy—for you, this day and every day.
