“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.
We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.”
Romans 8:26
• For years, I’ve struggled with a painful disease called fibromiyalgia. Especially during times of stress, the pain in my shoulders and lower-back spasms bring tears to my eyes. I try to exercise, as the doctor recommends, but often the effort seems hardly worth the pain. Of course, I’ve prayed often for the Lord to deliver me from this affliction—trusting the Holy Spirit to say what I cannot express. But I also know that God wants me to trust like my fellow-sufferer, Paul. When he was the most dependent upon God, then the ministry of God’s love flowed through him to the greatest extent. With that in mind, I bring my requests, and let the Spirit do the asking. Then I’m confident that I can live with God’s answer. When we feel weak, it can be a sign of blessings to come.
