Mismatched Socks

“At the right time he will bring everything together . . .
creating in himself one new person from the two.”
Ephesians 1:10, 2:15
• I grabbed a pair of socks on my way down the stairs and hurriedly pulled them apart. They didn’t match! My youngsters had been helping with the wash and had tried to pair all the socks, but a few got away from them. The extras were the leftovers my washing machine had spit out over the past few months. And while I’d hoped their partners would miraculously turn up, I knew they were destined for my rag basket. Ever feel like a leftover, mismatched sock? Some of us are worn down, have stretch marks and lots of pulls and tears! We don’t seem to ft and would love to belong to someone, some- where, who would make us feel complete. Suppose you took a moment to gather yourself around this truth: God created you for Himself—on purpose, and for a purpose. You and Him rolled up together . . . a perfect match. In the fellowship of God’s family, there are no leftovers.
