“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens,
and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28
• I recently came across a little prayer that went something like this: “Lord, do not let us do more, if in doing less we might do it better.” Do you agree that we need to choose wisely what we should be busy with in our days? To choose well means preparing our minds, in advance, for the toughest of decisions. We often must decide between mere quantity and quality in our Kingdom work. Ultimately, our prayers, like this one, can focus on our need for rest in the world. When we spread ourselves too thin, we seem to miss everything of real importance. The call to us then is to take time out to confess our occasional blindness. As we worship with one another, we can lean on one another, too. We can ask for the help we need to see clearly, among all the options, the best choices. We need to know when to work and when to rest from work.
