“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”
Psalm 119:11
• How I wanted to earn the prize—a whole week at junior-high summer camp! The challenge? Just memorize and repeat 200 Bible verses. I locked onto the task like a bulldog. Over and over, I read each verse aloud until it stuck in my mind. Then each Sunday, I recited the verses word by word while my patient Sunday school teacher checked for accuracy. Yes, I went to camp that summer, paid for by some dear soul who understood the life-changing value of Bible memorization. I agree with young David, the psalmist, who declared that God’s Word alone had the power to keep his way pure. So many times one of those hundreds of verses has popped into my head just when I needed help, comfort, or guidance. Now as a much older believer (who can’t remember where I parked my car at the mall), I really appreciate the wisdom of Psalm 119. Meditate on His Word, and delight in His ways—you’re sure to find His path for your life, no matter how young or old you are.
