“Fear not . . . for your Creator will be your husband. The LORD Almighty is his name! He is your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, the God of all the earth.”
Isaiah 54:4–5
• After a twelve-hour fight from Japan with two small children, I was exhausted. Lugging a stroller and two large bags, I stumbled wearily to Baggage Claim. My heart was heavy with grief, and I realized I couldn’t lift the four huge boxes off the conveyor belt. They were all my earthly possessions. Lord, please be my husband now. I need You. A harsh voice cut through my reverie. “What is all this stuff?” a customs official asked as he squinted suspiciously at the boxes. “I am moving from Japan.” “Oh really,” he said sarcastically. “What for?” Tears welled up in my eyes. “Because my husband has left me.” The man looked abashed and muttered, “Oh, sorry.” Then, turning to another guy who was passing by, he said, “Larry, this woman needs help.” Weak with relief, I followed three burly men who pushed through the crowds. God had provided men who did the job my husband used to do. Are you alone or in need? Lean on the Husband who never leaves.
