“ ‘Go out and stand before me on the mountain,’ the LORD told him.
And . . . there was the sound of a gentle whisper.”
1 Kings 19:11–12
• Suppose you came to visit me at my house. I invited you in. As we talked, I kept moving from window to window, peering through the glass with a telescope. You asked me, “What are you doing?” I answered, “I’m looking for my home, but I just can’t seem to find it.” Wouldn’t you find that rather peculiar? Many people claim to be searching far and wide for God. They say, “I just can’t seem to find Him.” All the while, we are standing in His hands. All that He has created is trying to tell us that He is right here, that His presence surrounds us every day, whether we realize it or not. We don’t need a telescope to see Him, or even a cell phone to reach Him. We simply need to find a quiet space and . . . listen. He’s only a prayer away.
