Staying Present in the Plans

“ I know the plans I have for you, ” says the LORD.

“ They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. ”

Jeremiah 29:11

• I have struggled all my life with worrying about the future rather than living in the present. Yet in speaking with a friend about my new writing and speaking ministry, I noticed another outlook forming within me. I told her that I felt I was in the “right” place in my life. And I was treasuring each day. “What makes you say that?” she asked. “Because for the first time I believe I’m fulfilling God’s purpose for me. I am having a great time, too.” All of us want to identify the reason we were placed in this world. Rest assured, though, that God assigned you a purpose before you were born. Ultimately, that purpose is the same for us all: to glorify Him in all we do. The details—God’s plans for you—well, together you will enjoy working them out! In this moment the plan is simple— be open to the Spirit’s leading.
